Lise Duclaux\u2019s work is structured by an investigation into the forms and processes of nature and ecosystems, similar to the methods of biology or cartography. Refuting any systematization of thought, the artist explores the complexity of the living through different disciplines, including drawing, writing, performance and installation. At WIELS, she creates a work in situ: her handwritten text on the windows traces the story of the wild plants that grow in the immediate vicinity. Duclaux reveals their origins and their clandestine journeys. In parallel, her drawings and silkscreens delve into the underground networks and territories of moles, thus extending the discipline of subterranean cartography, in the parts of the world that remain invisible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u0153uvre de Lise Duclaux s\u2019organise selon des recherches et des investigations de formes et de processus observ\u00e9s dans la nature et dans des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes, similaires \u00e0 ceux de domaines scientifique comme la biologie ou la cartographie. R\u00e9futant toute syst\u00e9matisation et tout acad\u00e9misme de la pens\u00e9e, l\u2019artiste explore la complexit\u00e9 du vivant \u00e0 travers diff\u00e9rentes disciplines, notamment le dessin, l\u2019\u00e9criture, la performance et l\u2019installation. Au WIELS, elle r\u00e9alise une \u0153uvre in situ\u2009: son texte \u00e9crit \u00e0 la main sur les fen\u00eatres retrace l\u2019histoire des plantes sauvages qu\u2019on rencontre dans le voisinage imm\u00e9diat du WIELS. Duclaux r\u00e9v\u00e8le leurs origines et leurs voyages clandestins. Parall\u00e8lement, elle investit les r\u00e9seaux et les territoires de taupes dans le sous-sol \u00e0 travers des dessins et des s\u00e9rigraphies, prolongeant ainsi la discipline de la cartographie souterraine de la part invisible du monde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het werk van Lise Duclaux is gestructureerd door haar onderzoek naar de vormen en processen van de natuur en haar ecosystemen, vergelijkbaar met die van de wetenschappen, zoals biologie of cartografie. De kunstenaar weerlegt elke systematisering en academisme van het denken en verkent de complexiteit van het leven door middel van verschillende disciplines, waaronder tekenen, schrijven, performance en installatie. In WIELS presenteert ze een in-situ tekening: haar handgeschreven tekst op de ramen vertelt de geschiedenis van wilde planten in de onmidellijke omgeving van WIELS. Duclaux onthult hun oorsprong en clandestiene reizen. Parallel daaraan verbeelden haar tekeningen en zeefdrukken de ondergrondse \u201cnetwerken\u201d en territoria van mollen. Op die manier verruimt ze de discipline van de onderaardse cartografievan de onzichtbare delen van de wereld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
